Limits and credits - Pekto

Rate limits

API key	60 requests a minute per key
Connected app (Sign in with Pekto)	120 requests a minute per app and user

Over the limit you get 429 rate_limit_exceeded with Retry-After: 60. Wait and retry; generation calls that hit the limit aren’t charged.

Credits

Everything else (reading, editing, scheduling, listing)	Free

Credits are reserved when generation starts and refunded if it fails before the project is saved. Check your balance with GET /account. When the balance is too low you get 402 insufficient_credits with your balance, the cost and an upgrade link.

What the API doesn’t do yet

Upload files (PDFs, images) for generation: paste the text into content instead
Fill picture slots with stock or AI images: carousels keep the theme’s sample photos, which you can swap in the editor
Export PDF, PPTX or PNG: export from the editor
Connect social accounts: connect them in the Pekto app
