Send format: "carousel" to POST /presentations (or ask your AI tool for a carousel) and Pekto builds the whole thing:
  1. Picks a theme. The one you name in template_family, or one Pekto chooses, which varies from request to request.
  2. Plans every slide. It reads your source and decides what each slide is for, in order: a cover with the hook, then tips, steps, stats, quotes, comparisons and so on, then a recap and a closing call to action.
  3. Gives every slide a layout of the right type. Each theme has layouts made for each kind of slide. Pekto rotates through them so neighbouring slides don’t look the same, and reuses them on long carousels.
  4. Writes and fits the copy. Text is written to fit each layout’s space, slide numbers and counters (03/08) are filled for the final length, and the project is saved, ready to edit.

Length

  • 3 to 30 slides; the default is 8.
  • On LinkedIn a carousel is a PDF document post, which holds all 30. Instagram allows at most 20 images per post, so keep Instagram carousels to 20.
  • Long carousels reuse a theme’s layouts, never two identical slides in a row.

Slide types

Pekto plans each slide as one of these types and only uses layouts made for that type:

Themes

Pass the id as template_family, or list them live with GET /carousel-themes (MCP: list_carousel_themes). Matching ignores case and spaces. An unknown id returns 400 invalid_template_family with the valid ids, before any credits are used.

Images and branding

Picture slots keep the theme’s sample photos, and name and handle fields use your account name. Swap in your own images, logo and colours in the editor, or apply a brand kit there.

Exporting

Open editor_url and export as PDF for a LinkedIn document post, or PNG for Instagram. You can also schedule a LinkedIn post through the API; see Scheduling posts.
